.SH "DESCRIPTION"

\fB(ALPHA)\fR \fBgcloud alpha compute target\-instances update\fR updates a
Compute Engine target instance.

.SH "EXAMPLES"

To update the security policy run this:

.RS 2m
$ gcloud alpha compute target\-instances update TARGET_INSTANCE \e
    \-\-security\-policy='my\-policy'
.RE

.SH "POSITIONAL ARGUMENTS"

.RS 2m
.TP 2m
\fINAME\fR

Name of the target instance to update.

.RE
.sp

.SH "FLAGS"

.RS 2m
.TP 2m
\fB\-\-security\-policy\fR=\fISECURITY_POLICY\fR

The security policy that will be set for this target instance. To remove the
policy from this target instance set the policy to an empty string.

.TP 2m
\fB\-\-security\-policy\-region\fR=\fISECURITY_POLICY_REGION\fR

Region of the security policy to operate on. Overrides the default
\fBcompute/region\fR property value for this command invocation.

.TP 2m
\fB\-\-zone\fR=\fIZONE\fR

Zone of the target instance to update. If not specified and the
\f5\fIcompute/zone\fR\fR property isn't set, you might be prompted to select a
zone (interactive mode only).

To avoid prompting when this flag is omitted, you can set the
\f5\fIcompute/zone\fR\fR property:

.RS 2m
$ gcloud config set compute/zone ZONE
.RE

A list of zones can be fetched by running:

.RS 2m
$ gcloud compute zones list
.RE

To unset the property, run:

.RS 2m
$ gcloud config unset compute/zone
.RE

Alternatively, the zone can be stored in the environment variable
\f5\fICLOUDSDK_COMPUTE_ZONE\fR\fR.

.SH "NOTES"

This command is currently in alpha and might change without notice. If this
command fails with API permission errors despite specifying the correct project,
you might be trying to access an API with an invitation\-only early access
allowlist. These variants are also available:
